Ginger contains various volatile oils such as zingiberene, gingerol, and shogoal with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. They are helpful to relieve nasal congestion and stuffy nose. To prepare ginger drink, pour 2 cups of boiling water over a 1-inch piece of peeled, grated ginger; steep for 10 minutes; and strain. Add lemon and honey to taste.
