Smoking can affect your vision health

Smoking is a risk factor for certain eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. This is because it reduces blood flow and nutrient supply to the eyes and increases the amount of toxic substances like tar and nicotine in the body.  Hence,  protecting your eyes is another important reason you should quit smoking. Consider taking an eye care supplement that contains Lutein, Zeaxanthin and antioxidants is good to reduce age-related vision degeneration.

Have Blurred and Cloudy Vision? Why?

A cataract is a condition in which the clear lens of the eyes becomes cloudy, preventing sufficient light rays from entering the eyes and impairing vision. Age is the most common reason for developing cataracts. Development of cataract is also associated with family history (if family or relative has cataract before), unhealthy lifestyle (such as smoking and heavy alcohol intake) and prolonged exposure to sunlight or radiation. Cataracts can cause eyes to be irritable to glare easily, lead to decrease in visual acuity and cause vision to be blurred and cloudy, or even result in double vision.

Help your brain by staying hydrated

Every cell in your body needs water to thrive, and your brain cells are no exception; in fact, about three-quarters of your brain is water. An Ohio University study found that people whose bodies were well hydrated scored significantly better on tests of brainpower, compared with those who weren’t drinking enough.

DHA for eye and brain health

Do you know that hyperactivity disorder in children, cognitive decline in elderly, poor memory and depression are associated with DHA omega 3 deficiencies? Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a valuable nutrient found abundantly in the brain and retina to support brain development, maintain optimal brain function and preserve eye health. DHA is also an essential fatty acid that cannot be produced by the body, hence the need to get it from diet or supplement.

Why should you use dental floss?

To have good oral health, it is not enough to brush your teeth twice a day, you need to floss at least once a day too. By flossing daily, you can remove plaque from the areas between your teeth where the toothbrush cannot reach. This is important because plaque that is not removed by brushing and flossing can eventually harden into tartar. In addition, people who are wearing braces or having big interdental gaps can use a special interdental toothbrush for more effective cleansing effect.

Practice good eating habits

According to the American Dental Association, consuming a balanced and nutritional diet is an essential aspect of caring for your teeth. Foods that are rich in Calcium and Protein such as dairy products, lean meats, soy products and nuts play an important role in protecting and rebuilding your tooth enamel. It is also important to avoid excessive intake of candy, soft drinks and cookies that can lead to tooth decay due to their high sugar content.

Regular trimming promote hair growth?

Wrong. A haircut has no effect on the rate of hair growth. Trim it or not, hair grows at the rate of one inch per month. Hair growth will not be affected by trimming the hair end. The only proven factors that affect rate of hair growth are genetics, hormones, and diet. However, chopping of the split ends may promote better hair growth. As the presence of split ends impede healthy hair growth. Avoid split ends by preventing over-styling in the first place is more effective for healthy hair growth!

Choose healthier oils!

Different cooking oils have different smoking points, giving them different optimum heating temperatures for different cooking methods. Unsaturated oils are healthier choices for cooking. However, when unsaturated oils are used in deep frying, they may turn toxic which leads to an increased cancer risk. For light cooking and salad dressings, look to polyunsaturated oils like Sesame oil or Safflower oil. For stir-frying, choose oils with a higher amount of monounsaturated fats like Canola oil.
